McAndrew is heading East this week

Glen Ellyn, Ill. defensive end/tight end prospect Tom McAndrew (6-foot-5, 245 pounds) will be on the road starting today during his week-long spring break journey, and don't expect McAndrew to be hitting the warmth or the beaches anytime this coming week. McAndrew is hitting the road in a week-long tour of several East Coast and Midwest schools.
“Today I'm heading to Michigan State to check out spring practice," Tom McAndrew said. “Then we're getting back in the car and we'll be seeing at least 8 different schools in person over the next week. My family and I want to get a head start in seeing some of these schools up close, so we figured that this would be the best way to see as many schools as we can."

McAndrew has planned an ambitious travel schedule. "Were going to head from Michigan State to Syracuse, then out to Boston College. Were also going to see both Yale and Penn, then we'll stop at the University of Pittsburgh. After Pitt, were going to come back towards Indiana and I'm going to check out both IU and Notre Dame. Then over the following few weekends I'm going to check out both Wisconsin and Iowa."
McAndrew also is pretty excited about his recruiting to this point. "I don't have an offer yet, but I've been getting hand-written mail from every school that I'm going to visit this coming week, as well as hand-written mail from Northwestern, Illinois and Stanford."
McAndrew is also excited about putting his basketball season behind him and he's now getting ready in the weight room. "Basketball is tough, no question about it, but just to be able to hit the weight room hard and to be able to work out until your near exhaustion, I just love that feeling. I can't wait to start the football season again."
