Mbakogu Set To Visit Local School

Phillip Mbakogu, a 6-2, 260 pound defensive lineman from Hayward (Calif.) and one of the nation's premier prospects will take his second official visit of the year this weekend when he visits the Cal Golden Bears.
Mbakogu is a monster talent and was one of the top players in attendance at the NorCal Nike Camp. In fact, some of the defensive line coaches working the camp actually rated him higher than fellow All-American Jeff Schweiger. Mbakogu clocked a 5.00 in the 40, 4.58 in the shuttle and did 32 reps on the bench while destroying everyone he went up against in the one on one drills.

One of the things we really like about Mbakogu is his versatility. He can play anywhere on the defensive line and fit in any system. He would like to play rush end in college but we actually think he has a chance to be a Larry Triplett (former Washington All-American), Mike Patterson (USC All-Pac 10 performer) type defensive tackle.
Mbakogu has already visited Notre Dame and said he loved his time in South Bend.
“It was a great trip, the game day atmosphere was incredible,” Mbakogu said. “Notre Dame offers so much both athletically and academically and I can definitely see myself fitting in very well there. I’m going to Cal this weekend and Kansas State (Dec. 19). I’m also looking at Oregon, Washington State and LSU. My teammate Robert Jordan and I will be taking a lot of our trips together and we definitely want to play together in college.”
Jordan is a very talented receiver-cornerback prospect in his own right so it sounds like one lucky school will be getting a heck of a package deal come February.
