Mayo has six leaders

Outside linebacker Jerod Mayo is one of the most sought-after players in the nation at his position. He has six leaders, and almost all have offered.
"NC State, UVA, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Purdue and North Carolina are my favorites," said Mayo. "All those schools have offered, except UNC."

Mayo is a 6-foot-2, 214-pound outside linebacker from Hampton (Va.) Kecoughtan and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds. He's off to a fast start in his senior season. Kecoughtan won their first game, and Mayo posted impressive stats.
"I had 11 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble," said Mayo. "I didn't get as many tackles last year as I was capable of getting, and I expect my numbers to be very good this year."
Is there anything he likes about his favorites?
"UVA's coaching staff is a big draw, because they have so much NFL experience and are such good teachers. At Virginia Tech I like their weight training program. Their players see big improvements in their size, speed and strength while they're there. NC State's facilities impressed me a lot too. There are things about each school that's impressive. That's just a short list of things I've noticed."
Mayo hasn't scheduled any official visits yet, but he will be asked to by numerous college coaches. He received some good news recently.
"Coaches can call again now, and Tennessee called as soon as they could and offered me a scholarship. That was really exciting. All my other favorite schools called too. But that one really stood out, because of the offer."
