Mayfield talks top five

MIAMI - Dontay Mayfield's offer list has some length to it. The Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep wide receiver has invitations from Duke, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Virginia and others. He holds 14 in total and is in the process of identifying a group of frontrunners.
It's just that he's taking his time doing so.

"The top five right now is UCF, Duke, Virginia, Kentucky and Cincinnati," Mayfield said. "There's not really an order or anything, but those are the five right now."
Sorting through the standouts is a task. Mayfield knows that. It's why he's starting to form offseason travel plans. In his mind, he has plenty to learn and plans to do so this offseason. The three-star prospect doesn't have any dates set in stone, but he has an idea of where he'd like to start.
"I'm going to visit Kentucky," Mayfield said. "I'm going to get there for sure."
From there, he'll schedule other destinations and pour over any new offers that happen to arrive. Mayfield may not know where he'll visit or what his post-highs school future holds, but he does know what he's searching for.
"It's all about going somewhere that feels like a second home to me," Mayfield said. "I just want to go to a school where I can fit in and have a good connection with the entire coaching staff."
Mayfield plans to wait out the upcoming evaluation period before making a verbal commitment prior to his senior season.
