Max Johnson 'honored' to be offered by LSU

THE LATEST...

During spring break this week, 2020 quarterback Max Johnson and his family took a trip to Baton Rouge (La.) before heading to the beach for a few days. The visit to LSU led to an offer from the Tigers and freshman out of Bogart (Ga.) Oconee County now has offers from Florida State, Georgia and Miami to go with the one from LSU.

Johnson is projected to be one of the top signal callers in his class. He is listed at 6-feet, 2-inches tall, but he looks a little taller than that. He is adding good weight too. He is the son of Brad Johnson, a former Florida State and NFL quarterback, so Max knows the game, he is sharp in the classroom and he is one you will hear more and more about.

The offer from LSU, like the others, is one he appreciates and he had a great time while on campus.

IN HOW WORDS...

"It is an honor to be offered by LSU and it was a great experience for me there," said Johnson. "It was my first time there and I was not expecting an offer, so it was exciting to get one. I am very appreciative for the offer from LSU.

"When I first got there, I met with coach [Matt] Canada (offensive coordinator) in his office. He told me that I have an offer and within about three minutes, coach O (Head coach Ed Orgeron) came into his office and told me I had an offer if coach Canada hadn't already told me. It was pretty funny.

"I spent time with both of those coaches and I like them both. The players love the coaches and the coaches love the players there at LSU.

"Coach Canada is a great guy. He can run any type of offense, he is very upbeat and he loves the players there. Coach O was excited and upbeat too. He seems like a breathe of fresh air. The players love coach O, the coaches love him and he is a cool guy. He really cares about his players.

"When I met with coach O in his office, that was one of the highlights of the visit for me. We went out on a balcony, he told me some stories about his family, he told me some recruiting stories and we had a great time.

"All the coaches are great at LSU. The players were great too. They were coming up giving me five and things like that, so that was nice. The facilities are awesome too.

"It is a school I would love to go to, but I am still a freshman and I like LSU the same as I do all of the other schools. I had a great time there."
