Mavety looking to trim his list

With offers from many of the top college programs in the country, offensive lineman Chad Mavety of Garden City (N.Y.) Nassau C.C. has become one of the top JUCO prospects in the country. The big lineman is thinking about trimming his list of schools down and has a couple of visits planned for the summer.
"Things have been good," said Mavety. "I've had plenty of schools visit me more than three times in the last couple of weeks and reassure me that I'm their #1 guy, so it makes the process easier."

With offers from top programs like Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin, has Mavety begun to think about trimming his list of schools?
"Yeah I have and I think I'm going to do a top ten, but I don't know when yet to be honest," said Mavety, who is 6-foot-7 and 295 pounds.
While he has yet to form a top list, Mavety has noticed that some schools seem to be pursuing him harder than others.
"Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Rutgers, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Syracuse are all recruiting me extremely hard, but the other ones are also still recruiting me heavy," he said.
Mavety has yet to take any visits, but has scheduled an official visit to Ohio State in November and has two unofficial visits scheduled for the summer.
"I will be down at Ohio State the 15th of June and Alabama in the beginning of July for sure," said Mavety, who also mentioned that additional visits are likely. "I want to see the facilities, atmosphere and how I vibe with the players. I want to see what these programs are trying to accomplish and their methods."
Mavety will continue to schedule visits and deal with his recruiting process in the coming months, but in the meantime he is grateful for what he is experiencing.
"It's an honor and a blessing," he said. "I'm just thankful for the opportunities."
