Maurice Wells ready for second visit

Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood running back Maurice Wells took his first official visit a couple weekends ago when he went out to see Southern Cal. Now he's going a little closer to home this weekend.
"I'm heading to Maryland early Saturday morning and will get there before their game against FSU," said the 5-foot-9, 177-pounder, who is ranked as the No. 3 all-purpose running back in the country. "I've already been to Southern Cal and I have Ohio State on Nov. 19 and now Georgia Tech on Dec. 17."

Wells is also considering an official visit to either Florida State, Florida or Notre Dame.
"Florida is up in the air because of the coaching situation," he said. "I was considering Purdue as well, but they throw the ball too much for me."
Wells is excited about his visit to Maryland this weekend, although it will be a short one.
"I'm leaving Sunday night because I have an Army All-American presentation on Monday at school," he said. "But I'll get to see the game, hang out with the team and players and see everything I need to see on Saturday and Sunday."
Wells said that Maryland's recent losing streak doesn't have an effect on his decision.
"They need some players on offense it looks like," he said. "I watched their game against NC State and they need a spark or something. Playing early and making an immediate impact is one of the factors I'm looking at."
Wells, who lived in Silver Spring, Md. at one time, has over 1,000 yards and 10 scores in five games.
"I'm healthy again," he said. "I missed a couple games but I'm back. I had 11 carries for 134 yards last weekend."
Does he have a leader?
"Not at all," he said. "That's what visits are for."
