Matthews open again

Quarterback Lamel Matthews of Washington (D.C.) Dunbar has had an up and down recruiting process to this point. After originally picking up an offer from Temple, Matthews recently started from scratch and is looking for a new batch of offers.
"Recruiting is going well," said Matthews. "I'm getting a lot of interest from Maryland, Toledo and Kent State."

As new interest continues to roll in, Matthews gave a rundown of what happened with his original Temple offer.
"They wanted me to commit and I wasn't ready," said Matthews, who is 6-foot-2 and 208-pounds. "And then they said another kid committed so they moved on."
Now that Matthews is open again, he will look to take a few visits but has not scheduled anything at this time. He did mention that he would love to visit at least one specific Big Ten school.
"I would love to visit Penn State," said Matthews. "I've been there for a Nike Camp and it's great there. I'm impressed with their tradition and the atmosphere at the school was great. Also the fans are as good as they get."
As he continues to strive to receive more college interest and offers, Matthews is out to prove himself this season.
"The season started off well," he said. "We are 3-0 and I have thrown for 499 yards and rushed for 233 yards."
Matthews has definitely noticed an improvement in his game over last season.
"I have a new coaching staff at my school and they taught me a lot more of the mental aspects of being a quarterback," he said. "Also I feel I have become a better runner and improved my accuracy."
