ATLANTA –- Class of 2018 four-star linebacker Matthew Bauer updated his recruiting status status at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Media Day.
THE LATEST: Bauer is approaching 15 offers, with West Virginia being his most recent. He also believes Michigan State will offer when he takes a visit to East Lansing on June 22. Other than the visit to Michigan State, Bauer will also travel to Michigan and Notre Dame during the summer, with the stops at East Lansing and Ann Arbor also including camps.
Aside from football, Bauer is also a D1 baseball recruit and several schools have given him the option to play both sports in college, which he considering. He specifically mentioned Pittsburgh, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Penn State and West Virginia as schools that have already discussed this with him.
IN HIS WORDS: "My favorite team growing up was Penn State, being a Pennsylvania kid. I liked them and liked to follow JoePa. Now that I’ve grown up, it’s more neutral.”
RIVALS REACTION: Growing up in Pennsylvania as a linebacker and fan of Penn State, it is hard not to put the Nittany Lions as the favorite despite his claim that he is completely open. Also, the option of playing baseball at the next level is an interesting one, but as his offer total continues to mount and his options grow, it’s likely that he will focus on football.
