Mattes has a top five

Offensive/defensive lineman Kurt Mattes continues to receive offers and he has five schools at the top of his list. Which schools are doing the best job of recruiting him?
"My five favorites are Pittsburgh, Michigan, Maryland, Northwestern and Stanford," he said. "I like different things about each one, but the big thing is the coaches. The coaches from those schools have all really impressed me a lot."

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound lineman from Plymouth (Pa.) Wyoming Valley West has written offers from Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt. He also has oral offers from UConn, Indiana, Syracuse and Northwestern. What is it he likes about his favorites?
"Pitt is really close to home and they should have a winning program every year," he said. "Michigan is a nationally recognized perennial power. Maryland is close to home too, and they're really focused on winning. They're doing things right down there. Coach Walker is the big reason I like Northwestern, plus it's in Chicago. With Stanford the quality of the education is extremely high. All five of those schools have great academic reputations."
Mattes' brother is a junior at Notre Dame, but has said that won't influence him in his decision. He's still showing interest in Notre Dame, along with Georgia Tech and others.
"I'm looking for a high quality education and a winning football program," he said. "How I fit in, and how comfortable I feel in the organization of any school will be very important as well."
Mattes may camp at Michigan before the summer is over.
