Mathews misses another trip weekend

After the kind of season he had, we thought schools would be knocking the doors down to get to West Bakersfield (Calif.) athlete Ryan Mathews. Unfortunately, that's not happening and time is starting to run out.
Mathews, 5-11, 200 pounds had a monster season and was one of the six finalists for the CA Mr. Football award. The athlete rushed for 3,396 yards and had 44 touchdowns and looked very good at the linebacker position as well.

Still, here we are in the middle of January and Mathews still hasn't taken any of his official visits yet.
"I was supposed to visit Colorado this past weekend," Mathews said. "They called up and said they were full on running backs so I then set a trip to Arizona State.
"Then in the last week, ASU said they want me at linebacker and I really don’t want to play there in college. I was supposed to also visit Nevada tomorrow for a mid week visit but I haven't been able to confirm anything with them and can't get a hold of their coaches so I don’t know if they're still around or not.
"The visit I know I'm taking is to Fresno State next weekend. Out of all the schools recruiting me, Fresno State has been the most consistent and I really like Coach Hill. I just talked to him to firm that visit up and everything is all set."
Mathews is still grinding away academically and will take the SAT later this month on the 27th.
"I'm real close to making it," Mathews said. "I got a 3.4 GPA last semester and I’m close to passing the test as well. I’m just going to keep working and hopefully I'll make it."
