Mater Dei OL heads to Islands

Sometimes a recruit just needs to feel comfortable about a college to make a commitment. That was the case for two-center Matagisila Lefiti of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei
The 6-foot-0, 275-pound Lefiti found the level of comfort he was looking for this weekend an official visit to Hawaii and left committed to the Warriors.

"Yeah I committed to Hawaii," he said. "It was a good visit. I felt very comfortable. Everybody has everybody's back over there. It was just a comfortable environment for me. I've got a lot of family there. It was just basically where I wanted to be."
Lefiti was shown around in Hawaii by a lineman who has already established himself there.
"John Estes, the starting right guard, was my host, and I really liked him a lot," Lefiti said. "We just went around sightseeing. We went bowling and just the regular stuff."
Lefiti also holds an offer from Boise State. So will he look around now even though he's committed?
"I don't think so," Lefiti said. "All the other schools have pretty much stopped recruiting me."
Once at Hawaii it looks like the coaching staff wants Lefiti to play center. In fact they want him to play center as soon as possible.
"Yeah they said I could start as a true freshman," Lefiti said.
