Matas stock on the rise

Mentor, Ohio, defensive end Steve Matas has been able to attend only one college football camp this summer, but that doesn't mean he hasn't added to his scholarship offer total.
"I have six offers now," Matas said. "I have Minnesota, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Miami of Ohio, Bowling Green, and Illinois. I'm still looking at everybody."

That includes a few schools that have not offered.
"I'm also looking at Ohio State, Purdue, and Akron," Matas said. "I'm still trying to get a feel for everybody. I have to see where the best fit for me is."
Matas had been scheduled to attend two college football camps, but transportation problems limited him to just one.
"I went to Bowling Green," he said. "I liked it. They offered right after camp."
"I was going to go to Ohio State June 23, but my car broke down on the way."
Matas plans to continue the recruiting process for at least awhile longer, but has a definite idea what he is looking for.
"First and foremost I'm looking for a good education," he said. "I want to find a good atmosphere where I feel I can advance. I want to find a school with coaches that will be good for me, help me advance."
The 6-foot-5 and 250-pound Matas, who is also a fine student, said he does not have any camps or visits planned for the rest of the summer at the present time.
