Massington has first two offers

Mesquite (Texas) West Mesquite lost a lot of talent from last year's team that made a deep playoff run. After a slow start to this year's campaign the Wranglers have finished strong and are ready to try and make another long postseason run.
Leading the way for West Mesquite has been several younger players. Wide receiver Eldridge Massington is the leading pass-catcher for the program and the 6-foot-3, 188-pound junior recently picked up a pair of offers.
"I've received two offers so far," Massington said. "I've been offered by Oregon State and Baylor. They actually both offered last Thursday. My recruiting coordinating coach at my school had told me about both of them.

"I was surprised by both of them but with Baylor I really was. I had just been receiving a few letters from Baylor. I didn't expect them to offer me already or anything."
Though he was not in frequent contact with either program prior to last week Massington has since had a chance to speak at length with both coaching staffs.
"Since then I've talked to the wide receiver coach and recruiting coordinator at Baylor," he said. "At Oregon State I talked to the receiver coach, the head coach and the offensive coordinator.
"The Baylor coaches told me they really liked my highlight tape and they just talked to me about all kinds of other stuff like basketball and things like that. We just talked for a little while. The Oregon State coaches pretty much talked to me about the same things."
In addition to Baylor and Oregon State several other programs have been showing quite a bit of interest in Massington as well.
"I've been hearing a lot from Texas Tech," he said. "I'm also hearing from Oklahoma State, Texas, Miami and schools like that."
With the recruiting process just beginning for Massington he says he has no early favorites.
"Not right now," he said. "I'm open to everybody right now. I didn't grow up a fan of a single school or anything."
In the regular season this year Massington had 39 receptions for 663 yards and six touchdowns. West Mesquite opens the playoffs this Friday night against Pflugerville Hendrickson.
