Uaea Masina emerged on the scene at a 7on7 event in Las Vegas this spring and since then the Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton linebacker has seen his recruitment pick up in major ways.
A strong performance at the All-Poly Camp last weekend helped Masina land a new offer from Hawaii and he's getting interest from Arizona, Utah State, Navy and others.
"It was way fun at that camp," Masina said. "It was a chance for other coaches to see me. It was the first time Hawaii got to see me play. I played defensive end and I blitzed every play so it was a lot of fun."
So far, Utah, BYU, Colorado, Hawaii and Southern Utah have offered Masina, who mainly played running back in his junior season so his recruitment has been slow to pick up.
BYU recently came in with an offer and Masina, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect who also looked good at the Oakland NIKE Camp, said the Cougars are definitely being considered now that they've offered.
"Before I wasn't really sure about BYU but they're definitely back in the running," Masina said.
"I don't know who's winning or whatever. I like all the schools and I still want to see other ones so I can narrow it down when I have a chance."
Rivals.com rates Masina as the No. 45 outside linebacker in the 2013 class and fifth in the Utah state rankings.
