Maryland TE holds one offer

Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha tight end Marcus Brown holds one offer from Temple that he received back in June. What does the 6-foot-4, 250-pounder think of the offer?
"Temple is an excellent school and they have so much tradition up there," he said. "They are one of the top colleges in the country and I was just so excited when the offer came in the mail. I didn't cry, but my mom went into tears."

Besides the offer, Brown is receiving interest from North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Illinois and Penn State. Currently, he is favoring Temple, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
"The thing about North Carolina is that I played basketball my first two years in high school and I always wanted to go play basketball and football. I'd try to be a walk-on for basketball. Also Lawrence Taylor is from that area and Julius Peppers went to UNC and I try to model my game after both of those guys," he said. "Virginia Tech is an excellent school and it would be great to go there. It's so close to DeMatha and it's one of the best schools in the nation that is a proven team from this area. Also coach Hite is recruiting me and he went to DeMatha, that makes me really comfortable with them."
This summer Brown visited Syracuse, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland for camps.
"Definitely the visit to North Carolina stuck out," he said. "I guess I just thought it was beautiful down there and I know it's ranked the number one campus in the U.S. and it was."
The tight end prospect is beginning to think about official visits.
"I'm looking at visits to Temple, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Virginia," he said. "If I have a bye weekend that I'm free, I'll definitely take a visit, but otherwise I'll probably just wait until the season is over."
The season is quickly approaching and Brown has big plans this year.
"Before people said I couldn't catch and then I did it last year. Now people are saying I can't run with the ball, so I've got something to prove again this year," he said. "I also want to work on not just catching, but my blocking too."
