Maryland standout has impressive offer sheet

Bowie, Md., inside linebacker Reggie Holmes Jr. has blossomed into a prospect with a top five and some impressive scholarship offers.
The 6-foot-2, 234-pound Holmes has been clocked at 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash and can bench-press 335 pounds. Holmes said some teams like him at defensive end, but he prefers to play inside linebacker where he can cause damage.

"I basically go out and play because I love the game, and I love making big plays," Holmes, who has a 37-inch vertical and a 3.3 grade-point average, said.
"I grew up around football, and all of the mean in my family play it and love it. I'm the only one left to make the move to the next level, and I'm working my hardest to get there."
But he does have plenty of options.
Holmes said his top teams are Tennessee, Syracuse, Michigan State, Maryland and Pittsburgh. One school that he had been linked to because his uncle played there was Penn State, but Holmes did mention the Nittany Lions in this update.
"Maryland was the first to offer me back a long time ago," Holmes said. "But I really don't have a favorite at this point. I like all of the teams that have offered me."
Ok, so what will the perfect school have in Holmes' view?
"The perfect school will have the major that I'm interested in - communications," he said. "I'm also looking for a place where I'm not going to have to sit around and wait forever to play. But the most important thing to be will be the quality of education.
"You have to worry about the books first to get far in life."
And there is no doubting that Holmes will - both on and off the football field.
