Maryland offer catches attention of 2018 3-star Georgia DE Abi Okonji

The Latest: With the dead period set to end next week, underclassman prospects from all over the country are about to see their offer lists start to grow. But for three-star defensive end Abi Okonji, the process got a jump start on Friday night when he picked up an offer from Maryland. Rivals.com caught up with Okonji talk Terps as well as his plans for upcoming visits.

In His Words: "I don't know much about the program but they play big time football in the Big 10 and they just got a commitment from a big time player at the UA All America Game so that will make me take a good look at them. Coach Bell is the one who offered me and we didn't get too much into things just that I have an offer and we can go from there."

Rivals Reaction: Maryland joins several teams on Okonji's offer list and the Terrapins success in the Peach State in the Class of 2017 already has the school on the radar of several 2018 prospects. The key will be to key Okonji on campus this offseason, something he said is a possibility. Coming up Okonji has visits to set Kentucky and Wake Forest, a pair of programs that are already recruiting him very hard.
