Maryland leads for local LB

A number of colleges from the ACC, Big East and Big Ten are taking an interest in New Market (Md.) Linganore linebacker Todd Cox. Is the 6-foot-2, 250-pounder favoring any colleges early in the recruiting process?
"I'm hearing from a few schools like Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, Connecticut and Boston College," he said. "I really like Maryland. I guess I'm a big fan of them because they are my hometown school and I've always rooted for them. They are a powerhouse in the ACC and are always known for good football.

"I've been up there and the facilities are great and the coaching staff seems well put together. I even talked to coach Friedgen for 20 minutes and he was just telling me he's interested and wants me to come to camp in the summer."
Although Maryland stands out, Cox isn't closing his doors and has an idea of what he's looking for out of his future home.
"I'm looking for good academics. I'm pretty interested in engineer and that could be a big factor," he said. "I'd also like to start my freshman year instead of sitting out. Location definitely matter too. I'd like to be closer to home, ideally a couple hours so my friends and family can see me play."
This summer Cox plans to attend the Maryland camp and is considering ones to West Virginia and Penn State.
Last season he registered 93 tackles, eight for loss, four sacks and one interception on his way to first team all-conference and all-area honors.
