Maryland is offer No. 9 for Urban

Willoughby (Ohio) South offensive lineman Nik Urban saw his offer list grow to nine schools with the addition of Maryland on Tuesday.
"It was completely out of nowhere," Urban said. "I talked to the offensive line coach a little bit when he followed me on Twitter. He said they were interested and wanted me to give them a call. I called him and he ended up offering me. He said he showed the head coach my film and right away he wanted to pull the trigger and offer."

Maryland offensive line coach Greg Studrawa made a positive first impression on the three-star lineman during their phone call on Tuesday.
"I think he is awesome," Urban said. "From what we talked about, he seems like a pretty awesome coach. I know he was down at LSU and coached in national championships. He's been all over the place at top programs, so he definitely knows what he is doing."
Urban does not have a strong knowledge of the program outside of what he has learned from his conversation with the coaching staff, but plans to research Maryland more in-depth going forward.
"(Studrawa) didn't really say much about football, just about the campus, the school and education," Urban said. "I will definitely learn more about it going further into the process (and) I think I will during the spring. I've always wanted to play Big Ten football, so they are definitely another option for that to happen."
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Urban is involved in wrestling this winter, where he boasts a 39-1 record and is ranked third in the state of Ohio. That has taken away his ability to make college visits for the time being, but he plans to start up on trips again.
"Right now it is pretty much focusing on wrestling. Once that is over I'll get my visits planned," Urban said. "I want to take a lot during the spring and summer. My plan right now is to be committed before two-a-days start."
Of the nine schools that have offered Urban, Illinois is currently the one he feels most comfortable with.
"Illinois, I really like it there," he said. "I have been talking to the coaches almost every day so I really have a great relationship there."
Buffalo also extended an offer to Urban this week. He is ranked as the No. 30 offensive guard prospect and the No. 21 player in the state of Ohio for 2016.
