Maryland flips Tahj Capehart from Virginia Tech on Signing Day
It has always been a priority of Virginia Tech to do well in the Virginia Beach area. The Hokies thought that had a commitment from Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan standout Tahj Capehart locked in. As it turns out, Capehart pulled a last minute flip and has signed with Maryland.
Capehart had been committed to Virginia Tech since August and was a vocal recruiter for the Hokies in the Virginia Beach region. Last weekend Capehart took a surprise official visit to Maryland and it looks like that sealed the deal for the Terps. Maryland wide receivers coach Chris Beatty has a long standing relationship with Capehart and his family. Beatty, previously the head coach at Landstown High School, met Capehart when he was very young and they have kept in touch ever since.
