"I made my top five and I'm ready to get it over with," the 6-foot-3, 224-pound Simmons said. "I don't know which school I'm going to pick. I'm keeping in contact with all of my coaches and trying to figure thing out."
Each of these five has some of the key things Simmons was looking for in his recruitment. He shared some of the positives of each school.
Alabama - "Alabama is a great program and I like all the coaches. I have a good relationship with coach (Lance) Thompson. I worked with him at the camp, which made us closer. I learned more about him and what he's doing with the defense. I like the campus too."
Florida State - "I feel really close with everyone up there. I know everyone and they know me. I first visited there my sophomore and I never lost that connection. I a great relationship with coach (Sal) Sunseri and I call him often just to talk and see what's going on. I talk to E.J. Levenberry jr. also. I also love that they just won the championship."
Maryland - "Maryland is my hometown team. They are close to me and I have a good relationship with every coach up there. I call them to see what's going on and I've on campus a few times."
Ohio State - "I like the atmosphere up there and all the coaches seem to like me. Tyler Green is going there, which boosts up my interest just to know that maybe I can play with one of my teammates. The coaches up there are a big factor. I haven't been round them as much, but when I went up there it help build a strong relationship."
Penn State - "Penn State is a great school. I have a good relationship with the coaches since they were at Vanderbilt. Everyone knew me and I knew them. It just felt very comfortable up there. I saw the academic programs up there and that was big for my parents and me. I saw all their facilities and all their players weren't shy about talking to recruits."
Simmons is set to announce his decision on Wednesday, July 30 at 2 p.m. at DeMatha.
