Maryland DE favors Terps

Randallstown, Md. defensive end Melvin Alaeze has become a hot commodity when it comes to recruiting of late. One of his first offers came from co-national champion Southern Cal, but his favorite is a bit more close to home.
"I'm staying wide open, but I would say Maryland has the edge right now," said the 6-foot-3, 273-pounder. "I also like Virginia, Boston College, USC, Penn State and Miami in my top six."

Alaeze, who was one of the most impressive looking players at the recent Rivals.com Junior Day in New Jersey, has offers from Maryland, USC, Boston College and UConn so far.
"More are coming I think," he said. "A lot of schools said they will offer when they swing to my school this May. When you have programs like USC and Maryland offering you, others will follow I think."
Last season, Alaeze had 55 tackles and 15 sacks for Randallstown. He will be at the NIKE Camp at State College, Pa. on May 15 and will also be at the Elite College Combine in New Jersey on May 5.
"I'm looking for a school that provides a good education, plays my style of football and has a nice location."
