Maryland DB favors MD, PSU, UNC

In 2006 Waldorf (Md.) Westlake was known for producing quite a few Division I prospects including Pha'Terrell Washington, Darius Powell and Aaris Reed. Westlake has another prospect coming out in 2007 in safety Kahlil Permenter.
"I'm getting a lot of interest from schools including Connecticut, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Rutgers," he said. "I surprisingly haven't received anything from Maryland. I'm waiting to hear from them."

Does the 5-foot-11, 195-pounder with 4.4-second speed have any favorites?
"I really like a few schools like Maryland, Penn State and North Carolina," he said. "I like Maryland because it's a good school that's close to home. Penn State is far enough from home so that I can stand on my own two feet, but close enough if something happens. Their football program is also really good. Finally, a couple of players this year were recruited by North Carolina and their coaches seem nice. All the guys had good things to say about them and I personally feel that they are a good school."
Permenter is a tough safety prospect that registered 46 tackles, four interceptions, three sacks, three fumble recoveries and four pass deflections in just six games last season.
"I'm a real hard hitter on the field and I think I'm pretty good at making the open field tackles," he said. "I can tell that each year I am getting a lot better at reading the field and seeing what's coming. I also have pretty good hands, so if the ball comes my way I can intercept it."
Permenter went on to be named all-conference as a junior.
The safety prospect has no combines currently scheduled, but he is considering taking in summer camps at Penn State, Maryland and Connecticut.
