Maryland ATH commits to Illini

Athlete William Davis took an official visit to Illinois over the weekend, and he sounded ecstatic upon returning home. It didn't take long for him to determine that he wanted to go back next fall and spend the next four years there.
"I had basically made up my mind when I was there on the official visit," said Davis. "It was just a matter of coming home, letting everything sink in and making sure it was the right decision. Coach Zook is a great guy and I like everything about the school. I'm really excited."

How does the 6-foot-2, 208-pound athlete from Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt see himself fitting in with the Illini?
"They want me to come in at the slot and play some receiver," he said. "They've said they're not going to make freshmen ride the bench. They think that I can come in and get on the field a lot as a freshman and I think so too."
What other schools did it come down to in the end?
"Like I said, the visit basically put Illinois at the top and I knew then. But I was looking at Virginia and UConn too. They both did a good job recruiting me, but I know Illinois is where I have to be."
