Martinez lands coveted offer

Grant Martinez grew up watching Arizona State and he has some family connections there so when the Sun Devils recently offered it was a big deal.
Now the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Notre Dame Prep three-star tight end has to figure out whether committing is the right move or if he still wants to keep his recruitment open a little longer.

Martinez, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound prospect, shined at a recent passing tournament at Arizona State and then landed his offer.
"It was really exciting," Martinez said. "My dad went there, I grew up watching them and I've kind of wanted that one for a while. I went up there and played well and it was one I wanted really badly.
"I had been talking to them for a while and going down there for their scrimmages and going for the junior day. They came out and watched me and coach (Todd) Graham was the last piece. Once I went out there and put a show on they wanted me and I got the offer."
Martinez, rated as the No. 12 prospect in the Arizona state rankings by Rivals.com, is expected to take an unofficial visit to Arizona State on Wednesday according to ASUDevils.com.
He's supposed to take trips to Stanford, Oregon and Oregon State next week but the Sun Devils could be tough to beat in his recruitment.
"I'm definitely thinking about a commitment (to Arizona State) but I want to visit some schools and go to some camps I have planned out," Martinez said.
"After that I'll sit down and look at all my options and see what works best for me and make my decision."
