Martin will be one to watch at NorCal NIKE Camp

One player we're really looking forward to seeing at the upcoming NorCal NIKE Camp is Oakland (Calif.) Bishop O'Dowd athlete Chris Martin. The talented sophomore excels on both sides of the ball and is a likely top 100 player nationally a year from now.
Martin, 6-4, 225 pounds had a big sophomore season totaling 108 tackles, and five sacks to earn all-area and 1st team all-state underclass honors. He's also a talented tight end and may try and work out at both positions at the NIKE Camp this weekend.

"I'm coming off track and I'm not sure my footwork was up to par yet to compete at my highest," Martin said. "So I wasn't sure on whether I should go as a TE or a LB but I kind of want to show people I can play tight end as well as linebacker."
On the recruiting front, Martin picked up three early offers and it sounds like a few more could be on the way.
"Cal, Stanford, Colorado have all offered and there have
been about 15 colleges so far coming up all highly interested so I have a feeling I will be receiving more in time to come," Martin said. "Right now, the schools I like are the three that have offered along with USC, UCLA and Oregon.
"I'd really love to hear from some schools back East like Georgia, Tennessee, Penn State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Florida. I love the Pac-10 but I feel like other than USC and ASU all the other Pac-10 schools don't exactly pride themselves on defense.
"I love defense but if I decided to play tight end in college, I'd definitely consider a lot of Pac-10 schools. As of today, I'm real big on East Coast schools.
"This summer, I want to take a visit to Oregon with my teammate Cherod Simpson. We've both talked with Coach Aliotti, and we were trying to set a visit up. I may also try and visit Michigan and Notre Dame when I go back to Indiana for a family vacation."
