Martin sets sights on the champ

When it comes to 2016 recruits, Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial standout running back Kameron Martin has attracted as much attention as anyone out there.
The offers have already come from near and far, and from some of the nation's premier college programs.

Martin's recruitment has also already generated plenty of discussion, but over the weekend Martin was focused on track as he competed with teammates at the UIL State Track and Field Championships.
He arrived in Austin, Texas donning a Florida State hat and his track suit. Martin has named the Seminoles his leader and he has not been shy about his affinity for college football's most recent national champions.
"Well, Florida State, I just love the swagger they have with the game of football and how they're coming out and recruiting the state of Texas," Martin said. "They want the best and they offered me at a young age. I was like if Florida State offers me that's the No. 1 school so why not be my favorite school. I'm going to go up there this summer and see how things are."
The visit to Florida State is not the only trip he hopes to make during the summer months. He does not have his schedule set but he does have a few schools in mind.
"I plan on visiting Florida State, probably Florida, and probably some Texas schools," Martin said.
He also mentioned trying to attend Baylor and Texas A&M camps, and listed Clemson, Baylor, and Texas Tech as programs following just behind the Seminoles at this point.
Along with a leader and a few summer plans, Martin also hopes to make a commitment before the start of the season.
"Well I was just sitting down with my mom and my stepdad one day," Martin said. "They were telling me to take it slow and I was like I want to get it over with a little early because you never know how things happen in life. I just feel like I'm going to make my commitment this summer."
