Martin gets the news he was waiting for

North Hollywood (Calif.) Harvard-Westlake offensive lineman Jonathan Martin gave an early commitment to UCLA back in the summer. He decided to open up his recruitment later in the year and has now made a commitment to another Pac 10 school.
"I'm going to Stanford," Martin said. "I'm very exicited as Stanford was actually my first choice all along. Early on in the process, Stanford told me my grades weren't high enough for them to recruit me so I decided to take the next best option which was UCLA.

"After they received my test scores though, they saw that I could get in and I was just notified earlier in the week that I had cleared admissions and I committed to them on the spot. Coach Dalman is the one who called and gave me the news and I was very excited.
"I know a took a chance opening things up before I knew if I was accepted or not. I've always liked Stanford and my plan was always to commit to them as soon as I found out if I got in or not. I knew there was a good chance but it was still good to hear and like I said, I'm just happy to be a Cardinal right now."
Martin, 6-6, 275 pounds is one of the elite tackle prospects in the West region. He has a nice frame, long arms and can move. He had a solid showing at the SoCal NIKE Camp and projects as a future left tackle for the Cardinal.
