Marshall expecting a strong response

Birmingham (Mich.) Brother Rice linebacker Shaquille Marshall is not happy about his team's second round exit from the Michigan High School state playoffs, but he is keeping his spirits up with the prospects of increased recruiting attention coming his way in the next few months.
The 6-0, 225-pound Marshall first started generating Division 1 attention after attending several combines this past spring and registering some exceptional numbers. He has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.6 and also has a bench press max of 335 pounds and a squat of 560 pounds. Now Marshall expects the attention to increase upon release of his senior film.

"I just got my senior film done. Now that I have it done I want to get it up on Rivals and I want to get it out to the coaches," Marshall said. "Everybody just really wants to see my defensive film. They saw my combine scores and now they just want to see if I can translate it to the field. I can't blame them because they can't offer guys without film."
Marshall has kept in contact with several coaching staffs throughout the fall, and his first offer could be coming once his senior tape makes the rounds.
"The most interest is coming from Illinois and Akron," Marshall said. "Akron is close to offering and I feel as soon as they see the film they are going to offer a scholarship.
"I've really been talking to a lot of MAC coaches. Central (Michigan) is starting to fill up, but they still want to see some of my film. I went to a Toledo game two weeks back against Ball State.
"I went up to Michigan and talked with Coach (Scott) Shafer and they really want some film and for me to send it ASAP. They saw my junior film and said it was okay, they just want to see me on defense a little bit."
Marshall helped lead Brother Rice to a 7-4 record before they got bounced out of the state playoffs in a close 17-13 loss to White Lake Lakeland.
"I got hurt and missed a couple games, but I think I ended the season with about 60 tackles and I had three sacks," Marshall reported. "I started off the year at fullback and got a few carries at tailback."
