Marquan McCall still locked in with UK

DETROIT - Oak Park, Mich., offensive guard Marquan McCall made a decision for Kentucky this past spring, but camped with other schools over the summer. The four-star says his commitment to the Wildcats heading into his senior season is as strong as ever.

THE LATEST

One of the camps McCall attended this summer was Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights. He received positive feedback from the coaches and former Buckeyes working the camp, and is implementing that teaching now. Ohio State never offered McCall, though, and he did not approach the camp as a recruiting experience. Now that his senior season has started McCall has no interest in thinking further about the recruiting process, preferring instead to focus on his own team.

IN HIS WORDS

“I am 100% all the way with Kentucky. (The Kentucky coaches) said to just focus on my team and come to them later.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

McCall was dealing with a minor leg injury he suffered earlier in camp, but still moved exceptionally well for an offensive lineman who is conservatively listed at 6-foot-3 and 323 pounds. The question with McCall has never been about his physical tools – they are extensive – but rather about his want to. He showed a strong motor in his season opener on Saturday, though, and could be setting up for a big senior season with a talented Oak Park team.
