Marlon Davis has five offers

Not much has been said lately about Columbus (Ga.) Carver offensive lineman Marlon Davis, but he has quietly picked five scholarship offers, including two from SEC schools.
“I have offers from UT-Chattanooga, Tennessee State, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Middle Tennessee State,” Davis said. “I got calls from all of those and Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, Maryland, Kentucky and Alabama in May as well. I think that Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Maryland and maybe even Georgia are close to offering.”

The 6-foot-3, 306-pound Davis had a good showing at the NIKE camp in Atlanta last month and stated that interest has greatly picked up since the camp.
“I thought that I did pretty well at the NIKE camp,” Davis said. “I started getting a lot more attention after that. Maryland, Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee all really picked it up after that. My coach started noticing the increase in interest too.”
Davis runs the 40-yard dash consistently in the 4.8 second range, but it’s his strength that sets him apart. He did 27 reps on the bench press and has a 375-pound max on the bench and 550-pound squat.
“My favorite schools right now are Maryland, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee,” Davis said. “Mississippi State and Vanderbilt are probably in there too. Right now Tennessee and Maryland are my top two because they are showing me so much interest, but I really like Alabama and Georgia a lot too.”
Davis was named first team Bi-City and honorable mention all-state. In just 10 games, Davis collected 59 pancake blocks in a run-heavy offense.
“Most schools that I talk to are recruiting me as a guard right now,” Davis said. “Several schools have even been talking to me about defense, but I’m not really too interested in playing defense. I am an offensive guy.”
Davis will be at the Alabama camp this weekend and also plans to attend camp at Georgia on July 10.
