Marlin star wants a shot at QB

Marlin, Texas, athlete Jeremy Sanders presents many college coaches with a tough delimma – is he a quarterback or an athlete? The results are mixed as several schools like him at different positions, but Sanders admits he would like to see himself some day under center.
"I think I'm a quarterback first," Sanders, who is 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds, said. "I'm really good at reading the defense. I just pick them apart and throw it to the person that's open. I pride myself on both running and passing. I can do both. I like both about equal."

With offers on the table from Houston, Missouri, Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin, Sanders said a few teams have been jumping out at him.
"I like Houston and Texas Tech," said Sanders, who led Marlin deep into the championship bracket at this weekend's Texas 7-on-7 State Tournament in College Station, Texas.
"I believe Houston is recruiting me at quarterback and Texas Tech likes me as an athlete. I'd love to get a shot at playing quarterback, though."
Sanders will take an unofficial visit over to Houston on July 22, and he said he is enjoying the recruiting process but doesn't know if he wants to get the decision out of the way sooner rather than later.
"I have some thinking to do," Sanders said.
As a junior, Sanders threw for 1,512 yards and also rushed for 1,214 yards. He was one of the better quarterbacks in the tournament, despite not being able to show his full game.
"I felt like I was handcuffed," Sanders said. "They might be able to stop the pass in the game, but teams can't stop the both the run and the pass. So it was a little frustrating at times to have to force the pass and not be able to run it."
