Mara follows grandfather to Fordham

Quarterback Sean Mara will be following in the footsteps of his famous grandfather Wellington Mara at the next level. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder out of New Rochelle (N.Y.) Iona Prep will be headed to his grandfather's alma mater, Fordham.
"For me, it was a decision on comfort," he said. "I love the location, academics of the school and the fact my grandfather went there. That's how I originally looked at them. I think I have a real good possibility for a college career.

"I really appreciated what the coaches from there were telling me. When I went there on a visit, I decided they had a couple things for me and the level of play wasn't that big of a deal. I'm just comfortable being able to play football.
"I think I've built a good relationship with all the players and coaches. The staff is relatively new, only in their second year and I look forward to working with them."
The two-star prospect will get a chance to earn the starting spot for the Rams next year.
"They said I have a chance to compete this season," he said. "Their quarterback last year was a freshman and I'll be competing with him for playing time. I should be able to see the field a bit since they run a sort of two quarterback rotation. I'm hoping to be in that rotation and eventually impress the coaches to get more time."
