Manuel making travel plans

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The buzz around Shavar Manuel's recruitment is garnet and gold.

There was a reported commitment to Florida State, which was denied but may or may not still stand as a silent verbal. Then, so goes recruiting in 2015. But whether or not the five-star defensive end is pledged to the Seminoles on the hush, he's portraying himself as a uncommitted commodity.
On Monday, he stuck with his talking points.
"Like I tell everyone, Florida State is one of my top schools, but not the only one," Manuel said. "I'm not committed there. I like them. They play tremendous defense. They're one of my top schools."
Manuel declines to name other schools that accompany Florida State near the top of his list, but doesn't mind talking about the unofficial visits he has in mind for the summer. In fact, a plan on that front seems to be coming together quickly.
"I'll probably most likely get on the road starting the 25th of May, he said. "That's our last week of school. I want to get to Georgia, Clemson, LSU, UCLA and Louisville. Those out-of-state schools."
Manuel says his commitment will hinge on how he feels the coaching staff of his choice will treat him once on campus. Depth charts and other things are important, sure, but relationships will drive his recruitment.
And as for a timetable or a decision, Manuel stays coy. He flashes a grin when he briefly discusses it.
"I could surprise you with that," he said.
