Mangum checks out the Huskies

Chandler (Ariz.) linebacker Kurt Mangum took his first official visit of the year this past weekend to Washington. Mangum was hoping for an offer on the visit but will have to wait just a bit longer before that could happen.
Mangum, 6-0, 228 pounds had a breakout senior season and established himself as one of the top insider 'backers in the region.

"I had a great time at Washington and really enjoyed myself there," Mangum said. "Coach Willingham is a great guy and although he didn't offer, he told me to be patient because they still like me a lot.
"He said he want to watch how I played in the Offense-Defense Bowl and said there is also another player who they're looking at as well. They haven't offered either of us so I'm just being patient and not worrying about it all. He's going to talk to me this week and update me on where I stand with them so hopefully it will be good news.
"As for the visit, the best part was just hanging out with all the guys. I really like the recruiting class Washington is bringing in and everyone gets along like one big family. We all hung out a lot and it was a lot of fun getting to know those guys.
"Donald Butler was my host and he was real cool. I got along great with all the guys on the team too. He was telling me they don't have a lot of depth right now at inside linebacker so it sounds like Washington would be a good fit for me.
"I also liked the city of Seattle a lot. The way people talk about it, I was expecting a monsoon when I got there but it didn't rain at all and the weather was fine.
"Coach Lubbick at Colorado State is coming over for a home visit tomorrow night and I'm talking with Duke as well. I could visit one of those schools this weekend but nothing is set up right now."
