Manfro makes weekend decision

Steven Manfro took his official visit to UCLA this weekend and on his 18th birthday the Castaic (Calif.) Valencia running back picked up an offer from the Bruins and promptly committed.
A 5-foot-10, 187-pound all-purpose back, Manfro said the UCLA coaching staff said other than being used in the backfield he can also be a punt or kick return specialist. There is a possibility that Manfro will greyshirt.

"I took my official visit this weekend and it was great," Manfro said. "I liked everything about it. The players were nice and they're really open.
"The facilities are amazing, too. They got a new weight room recently. Everything about it, I can't find any flaws with UCLA. I got an offer (Sunday) morning and I committed."
In his senior season, Manfro finished with 3,788 all-purpose yards and 41 touchdowns and broke all kinds of records along the way. According to the Los Angeles Times, Manfro had 123 touchdowns in his high school career.
Wyoming had also offered and Boise State was showing lots more interest but UCLA was always a favorite for Manfro, who has been timed at 4.42 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Even in recent weeks, Manfro said he wanted to wait on UCLA and Boise State before making any decisions.
After getting an offer during the visit, Manfro had his mind made up. The weekend visit only reconfirmed that's where he wanted to play his college football.
"I wouldn't want to be anywhere other than UCLA," Manfro said. "It's been my favorite school since I've been younger. I've watched all their games.
"It's a great place to be. It's a plus because I'm close to home and my parents can come watch all my games and they're really excited about that, too, that they can come see me all the time."
