physically imposing linemen.

Jefferson County's
Fernando Velasco, a 6-foot-4, 330-pound offensive tackle, camped at
Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, Georgia Southern and Middle Tennessee
this summer. In recent weeks he's picked up scholarship offers from Georgia,
Arkansas and Kentucky.
"Everything's going real
well," he said. "I was happy to get a few offers, especially from Georgia.
They've always been my favorite team. I like the atmosphere and tradition there,
and all the coaches too."
With an official offer
on the table, could a Bulldog commitment be coming soon?
"It's tempting, but I don't think I'm ready to do that," he
said. "Right now, I'm just taking my time and waiting to see all of my options.
I want to visit some of these places in the fall."
He said South Carolina and Auburn also rate high on his
list after visiting their camps.
"At South
Carolina, I really liked their coaching staff and the offensive line coach. He
was real good. Lou Holtz's name really says a lot, too," Velasco said. "With
Auburn, I really like the big-time football atmosphere. It seems like a cool
place to play."
His top six consists of Georgia,
South Carolina, Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky and Clemson.
As a junior, Velasco (350 bench, 400 squat) graded out at
93 percent and had 44 pancake blocks.
