"I had a great time at Kentucky today," Malone said.
The No. 37 player in the country, Malone has offers from several programs, including the Wildcats. He said the coaches were touting the program's new direction.
"They were showing me what they got," Malone said. "They are trying to build something special."
Academics figure to play a large role in Malone's commitment, and he said he was impressed with that aspect as well as the campus as a whole.
"Everything was good there," he said. "The business school was set up nice, and they're renovating a building for football and they are getting full support. The school is craving a good football program."
Next up for Malone is an unofficial visit to Louisville before trips to Florida State and USF next week.
