Makylan Pounders committed to Mississippi State April 29. He stayed committed to Mike Leach and the Bulldogs until December 6.
After being uncommitted for four days, the three-star offensive tackle out of Byhalia (Miss.) has now committed to another in-state school, this time to Ole Miss.
Lane Kiffin and the staff in Oxford made Pounders a target and really turned up the heat the last couple months. Pounders felt more comfortable with the Ole Miss staff and he really likes the direction the program is headed.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I have been thinking about this for a few weeks," said Pounders. "I really started thinking about decommitting from Mississippi State and committing to Ole Miss when our season ended."
"Ole Miss has been pushing the entire recruitment, but the last couple weeks, they have been working really hard.
"It was hard to make this decision because I really had a great relationship with the Mississippi State staff. I had that thought in my mind for a long time and I just had to follow what my heart has been telling me.
"Ole Miss has felt like a home away from home for a long time. I'm so used to being there that every time I visit, I feel like I'm one of them.
"I made the decision official over the weekend and I told the staff Sunday night that I was ready to come home.
"Coach Clements is the coach I have the closest relationship with. And I feel like he is a great coach and I'm ready for him to develop me into a better football player.
"I'm pumped about being committed to Ole Miss now. We have a great class coming in and Ole Miss is going to become a powerhouse soon."
RIVALS REACTION: This is a good in-state pick up for Kiffin, and the Rebels have some real momentum as we are less than a week away from Signing Day. Ole Miss got off to a very slow start, and there was some concern about what Kiffin's plan was, but he and the staff in Oxford are closing strong. Pounders is an offensive lineman about upside. He has the frame, he has good agility, and he is a prospect the Ole Miss staff has a chance to develop and put their stamp on as coaches.
