The situation: Lewis once seemed like an Oregon lean, but after the coaching change in Eugene, the Ducks were back to square one. USC turned up the heat during that period and Lewis officially visited the Trojans this past weekend. Nebraska is the wild card. The Huskers are hoping to cash in on several California prospects on Wednesday. So how will it all shake out? Our Oregon and Nebraska experts weigh in and state their case on those schools' chances to land him and then National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell issues a verdict.

Oregon: “Joseph Lewis would be a perfect at Oregon for some key reasons: depth chart, offensive fit and location. The Ducks are relatively thin at wide receiver heading into 2017 with just six scholarship players in the unit. That means some freshmen are going to have a chance to come in and contribute right away. For a 6-foot-2, 197-pound athlete with size and speed like Lewis, the Oregon offense, now run by a new staff but with the same philosophy, would be perfect. Willie Taggart with this Duck offense will want to get the ball into the hands of the playmakers in space, something he would shine at.” – A.J. Jacobson, DucksSportsAuthority.com

Nebraska: “Nebraska wide receivers coach Keith Williams has done a fantastic job of recruiting Lewis and has been able to get him on campus twice for unofficial visits and once for an official visit to see a game this past fall. The Huskers have made recruiting California a priority under Mike Riley and have pulled some good talent out of the state thus far, including several players that Lewis is familiar with. Above all else, NU has a great need for wideouts in this class and Lewis has a chance to make an impact as a true freshman.” – Nate Clouse, HuskerOnline.com

The verdict: “USC all the way here. I know Nebraska has had him on campus and has done a great job recruiting him and landing some of the better California players this cycle, but I don't see Lewis turning down USC to go far from home.” - Mike Farrell, Rivals.com National Recruiting Director
