Major interest still hovering around Grant

MORE: Roundtable: Strongest position group
Jake Grant's lone scholarship offer is an important one to him. The invitation from Utah has been with him for a while, and the Utes' staff has used that fact to build a relationship with the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Horizon High School junior.

Utah has a leg up in his recruitment, though that is subject to change as more offers materialize. And Grant is hoping that takes place in the near future.
"There's definitely a lot of Pac 12 interest right now," Grant said. "It's Arizona State and Arizona. Utah, obviously. Washington is there. Boise State with Coach [Scott] Huff. He actually played at my high school, so we know each other pretty well. Oregon and Nebraska. Coach [Ross] Els came and visited me after my season. He wants me to come check out Cornhusker football. And Coach [Brad] Salem from Michigan State as well."
Grant's lone offer doesn't reflect the interest that seems to surround him. The 275-pound tackle will focus on doing his diligence and waits for new opportunities to arrive. Grant visited Arizona for the program's junior day on Saturday and will hit Arizona State on March 1. After that, he'll turn his attention out of state.
"I'm going to the Nike combine in California on March 9, so I was planning on visiting UCLA and maybe USC at that time," Grant said.
A three-star prospect, Grant hopes to visit Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State and Boise State, but does not have dates for those trips as of yet. The same can be said for Nebraska and Michigan State.
As for his next offer, Grant isn't totally comfortable making a guess. When put on the spot, he obliges but does so with a bit of hesitance.
"If I was a betting man, well … another school that is recruiting me pretty hard is Cal, so I'd probably have to say Cal," he said.
