Major interest for Thompson

Shurod Thompson is mainly focused on school and his junior season but the interest from top programs keeps pouring in which puts recruiting right back in focus.
The 2016 four-star defensive back from Pittsburg, Calif., said LSU, Alabama, Georgia and USC are the most involved at this point and that Oregon has been in the mix recently as well.

Recruiting is not the main concern for Thompson right now but he's considering some unofficial visits in the coming months.
"I haven't really been talking to coaches that much," Thompson said. "I've just been focusing on school and my season right now but I'm getting a little bit more interest."
So far, the Northern California prospect has been offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, Cal, Colorado State, Oregon State, San Jose State, UCLA and Washington State.
Thompson, rated as the fifth-best safety and the No. 64 prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, has said two of his favorites are USC and Oregon and offers from those two Pac-12 powers would be big in his recruitment.
The feeling at this point is that USC is closer than Oregon to offering.
"I'm not sure right now but an offer from SC would be big," Thompson said. "I'm not sure right now since I'm taking it slow.
"SC is a great school, it's been known for football for a long time. I've always wanted to be a part of the team so that would be a big one. It's been pretty quiet recently (with Oregon). I talked to coach John Neal earlier but that's about it."
The four-star said he plans to attend plenty of Cal games this season along with a possible trip to Oregon. He said it's undecided whether he can make a game at USC in the coming months.
"I just want to focus on the season," Thompson said.
