Mahina makes his decision

Upland (Calif.) tight end Devin Mahina told us a few weeks ago that there was a very good chance he would end up committing when he took his official visit to BYU. The visit to Provo took place this past weekend and sure enough, Mahina is a Cougar.
"Yep, I committed on my trip," Mahina said. "I've actually known for awhile that BYU was where I wanted to go. Coach Higgins came over for a home visit in early December and right after that, I knew I would be going there.

"There were just too many positives there. It's the church school and my faith is important to me. I love the offense and my host, Vic So'oto told me it's so tight end friendly that if you can't catch 50 balls in this offense, there something wrong with you.
"The visit was great, my best one so far and it really helped me to realize I was making the right decision to go there. All of the recruits had a good time together and I was very comfortable with everyone.
"I plan on leaving next January for my mission so I'm probably going to be a grey-shirt. I'll either take summer school classes or just stay home in the fall and work and then leave after 1st semester. So it will be awhile before I play for BYU but I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to get in there."
