Magnuson begins to narrow list

Erik Magnuson has started to trim schools off his impressive offer list but the Carlsbad (Calif.) La Costa Canyon offensive tackle said he's not ready to publicly divulge which schools are making the cut just yet.
Cal and Oklahoma are the two latest offers for Magnuson, a 6-foot-6, 275-pound prospect who was one of the best offensive tackles last weekend at the Stanford NIKE Camp. Rivals.com rates him No. 35 in the 2012 class.

"I've started narrowing it down a little bit in my head but I haven't come out with anything yet," Magnuson said.
"I think I'm going to sit down over the next couple weeks, looking at every school, seeing what they can do for me and hopefully I'll have a top five by the season and then go on my official visits from there."
Arizona, Boise State, Cincinnati, Colorado, Colorado State, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Stanford, UCLA, Utah, Washington and Washington State have also offered Magnuson, who said he'd like to take all five official trips.
Magnuson has talked highly about many programs in the past including Oregon, Miami, Notre Dame and Michigan but since he's not giving out any favorites at this point it's still anyone's guess on which teams are leading.
Since he plans to take all five official visits this fall, Magnuson is still probably months away from making his commitment.
He said Sunday at Stanford that recruiting has slowed down a little bit but that it's been fun to see numerous coaching staffs stop by his school.
"Recruiting is going well," Magnuson said.
"It's slowing down for a little bit but it was going pretty heavy there for a little while. The coaches are coming into the school now. I haven't gotten any new offers yet but when the coaches come in that's been fun."
