Magnolia WR picks up more offers

Jackson (Miss.) Provine wide receiver/cornerback Anthony Johnson is a guy that is not getting the attention as some of the other top skill players around the South, but continues to add offers to his ever growing resume.
“I had offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Nebraska already,” Johnson said. “Now I have also picked up offers from Notre Dame and Southern Miss. I am hearing a lot from schools like West Virginia, Memphis, Louisiana Tech, Tennessee and Georgia Tech.”

Johnson attended the NIKE camp in Baton Rouge in early May. He registered in at 5-foot-10 and weighed 188 pounds. He ran a solid 4.6 second 40-yard dash, had a 4.25 second shuttle, posted a 31.5-inch vertical jump and did 15 reps on the bench press.
“I have not been to any games anywhere so far this year, but my dad and I were talking about that the other day,” Johnson said. “I am probably going to go the UAB-Mississippi State game this weekend. I have not set up any official visits yet so far.”
As a junior he had 24 catches for 639 yards and 11 touchdowns, but also added seven interceptions as a 4A all-state performer.
“My top five schools right now would be LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama and Auburn,” Johnson said. “I don’t think I could say that any one of them is ahead of another.”
Johnson took the ACT in May and scored a 17, but plans to retake the test later this month on October 23.
