Magnolia RB ready for Bama visit

One of the rising prospects in the Magnolia State is preparing for his first official visit this weekend.
Benoit (Miss.) Brooks running back Lavarus Giles says he’s eager to visit Alabama beginning Friday.

“I’m looking forward to that one,” he said. “I’ve been to a game and everything there, but I’m looking forward to seeing more of the campus and what they have for academics. That’s the main thing I’m looking for this weekend.
“As far as the team, I like them a lot. They’ve got some good players and real good coach, in my opinion. I like their tradition, too, and the way they run the ball. They’re losing a real good running back this year (Shaud Williams).”
Giles (6-1, 205, 4.43) said he’s also going to take visits to Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
“State has struggled the last two years, but I think they just hired a great coach (Sylvester Croom) from everything I’ve heard about him,” he said. “I’m looking forward to meeting him.
“Ole Miss is a good football team, a real good football team. They impressed me this year. I like their coaches. They’re real nice, down to earth guys. I like their campus, too. They’re looking for a good running back this year, and they think I could be that player for them.”
Anyone under consideration for the other two visits?
“Not really,” Giles said. “Nobody else has called and asked me to.”
As a senior, Giles rushed for more than 1,500 yards and scored 29 touchdowns in only his second year of organized football.
