Magnolia OL/DL watching MSU situation

Brookhaven (Miss.) lineman Philip Tobias is sitting on a pair of scholarship offers and keeping a close eye on recent developments with one of those schools.
“I have offers from USM and State,” he said. “But I’m kind of wondering what’s going to happen with State. They’re talking like coach Sherrill isn’t going to be back, and I don’t know what that means for me. The new coach could come in and take my scholarship away or something.

“So you could say USM is kind of moving up for me. I like them a lot right now. I'm definitely going to make an official visit.”
Tobias (6-3, 290, 5.0) says he’s also receiving calls from Ole Miss, Arkansas and West Virginia.
“Ole Miss tells me they’re still looking at me and to keep up the good work,” he said. “It sounds like they might offer eventually.”
As a junior, he recorded 74 tackles and 11 sacks. Through eight games this season, he’s helped lead Brookhaven to a 7-1 record and the No. 7 ranking in Class 4A while picking up 10 sacks.
“I just had one of my better games last week,” he said. “I had 11 tackles, four sacks and two pass break-ups against South Pike.”
Academically, he maintains a 3.4 GPA and has scored a 15 on the ACT.
