Maddox up to a half dozen offers

Shelby (N.C.) Crest linebacker Dwayne Maddox continues to accumulate offers. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder has six scholarships and is preparing to participate in a combine next month to gain more.
"I'm just training for football season and the combine, I'm going to the Shrine Bowl combine on April 14th," he stated. "As for offers, I've got ones from Alabama, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Clemson and East Carolina is the newest one.

"I'd say that Alabama, NC State, South Carolina, North Carolina and Clemson are standing out a bit more than the others because they are big time programs. I especially like UNC. I grew up in Durham and have always liked them and watched them since I was a kid. I've got a lot of family down there still and I love the basketball."
In the near future, Maddox is planning to head on two unofficial visits.
"I'm thinking about going to Florida on April 2nd and NC State sometime this spring."
With a wide variety of favorites, what will be critical in the Carolina prospect's decision?
"Of course I want a team with good coaches that will win a lot of games," he said. "I want a college with great fan support that is not too far away from home. I'd like it to be three to four hours at the most. I want to be on a great defense and if I can help it, try to stay in-state."
Maddox posted over 100 tackles and five sacks as a junior.
