Maddox rates Spartans visit perfect 10

Philadelphia (Pa.) West Catholic safety John Maddox took his third official visit of the season to Michigan State last weekend. Did the 6-foot-2, 164-pounder enjoy the trip as much as his one to Purdue the week before?
"It was a really good visit and taking an official there did a lot more for me," he said. "I got there Saturday morning and went to the game. Afterwards, I went out to dinner with the coaches and then headed over to the freshmen dorms to hang out with some of the players and played Madden and watched the USC game.

"On Sunday, I took a tour of the campus had lunch and met with the coaches. I got to talk to coach Smith and it went well. He was really comfortable to talk to and he told me how I can be effective on the team and all that."
The three-star prospect took in a very exciting game between Penn State and Michigan State.
"I had fun and it was a really good experience," he said. "There were a lot of people at the game and I felt I could go out there and play for them. I saw that the receivers run their routes really hard and precise, which is good."
Maddox rated his trip to Michigan State a perfect 10.
"There was nothing negative about the trip and I had a good time just like on my trip to Purdue," he said. "I'd say all the schools are pretty even still."
Two weeks ago the No. 24 safety in the country traveled to Purdue.
"It was a good visit there," he said. "I got a chance to talk to the coaches. They were a little different from Michigan State because it's a smaller school and campus, but I still liked my visit. I'd rate it a 10 because there was nothing negative about it."
